Plumb
The Plumb brand is a well-established manufacturer of hand tools, particularly known for its hammers and hatchets. The company has a rich history dating back to 1869 when Fayette R. Plumb partnered with Jonathan Yerkes to form Yerkes & Plumb, one of the first companies in the United States to use cast steel for tool manufacturing. By 1888, the company operated solely under the Plumb name. Over the years, Plumb has been involved in various legal disputes regarding trademark infringement and has undergone several changes in ownership, including being acquired by the Ames Company in 1971 and later by Cooper Industries in 1981, before being spun off into Apex Tool Group in 2010. The brand is recognized for its high-quality tools and has been associated with customized and advertising hatchets, particularly in the early 20th century.
